2 on the run as CS Machogu issues tough orders on cruel punishment in Kisii.
2 on the run; They were among a group of five that caused a 19-year-old student to lose his testicle in Kisii County after they thoroughly beat him up in School.
CS Machogu,”This is so disturbing and criminal. It is no longer an educational matter, it is a criminal matter, if a teacher goes to that extent, then he is a criminal and he is no longer a teacher.”
Referring to Article 29 of the Constitution which prohibits corporal punishment, torture, or cruel punishment, The education cabinet secretary outlined that the teachers should from now on be treated as criminals and be prosecuted in court for the misery they have caused to the young boy.
He stated,”The law should take its course and they should be punished accordingly. They should be taken to court and dismissed from service.”
With the help of Police Commander Charles Kases, the other three suspects involved in the incident were arrested and will be arraigned in court on Thursday, April 13.
The commander stated,”The three teachers we arrested were all employed by the board.”
The student narrated that the teachers ganged up on him and beat him mercilessly even after he started bleeding.
He stated,”They took me to the staff room, tossed me to the ground several times before they tied me up and started beating me for about two hours.”
