Unga drops for select brands across the country.
President Ruto’s spokesperson, Hussein Mohamed has announced that Unga drops for select brands.
He stated,”Unga prices have started going down just as President William Ruto had assured Kenyans over the weekend.”
He highlighted that Prices have dropped to Ksh159 and Ksh 160, depending on the millers citing that when the President assumed office last year, a 2kg packet was retailing at approximately Ksh230.
Information Chief Administrative Secretary Dennis Itumbi had earlier announced that Unga was retailing between Ksh155 and Ksh160.
He stated,“Unga is now between KSh155 and KSh160 bob. Handshake spent Ksh8 billion a month for a subsidy that was barely available for Kenyans while Ruto has used brainpower.”
On the same issue was Nandi senator Samson Cheragei who stated that the cost of living is going down as the president promised.
He stated,”Eventually cost of living will come down and affordable to all Kenyans. The master stroke is subsidising the production over consumption through farming and food security,” Cherargei noted. ”
This comes after president Ruto promised that the price of maize flour will go down within a week.
He stated,”I am aware that we still have a problem with the cost of living. We agreed that we have to address the problem of maize flour. We have imported maize and starting next week the cost of maize of flour will start coming down.”
Mixed reactions on the prices going in varous supermarkets have emerged.
Kabando wa Kabando stated,”Credit due, if this is true in all shops across the country, it is some good news for now, though, hii ni kidogo sana in promises list. But given the salad of fake promises associated with UDA, skeptics will undoubtedly doubt it until verified by independent consumer monitors.”
