A group of heavily armed bandits raid a village days after Rift valley leaders dared IG Koome.
A group of heavily armed bandits stormed Kamologon village in West Pokot, On Monday. This came days after leaders from the rift, dared Inspector general Japheth Koome to rain on Bandits the same way he did with Azimio demonstrators.
The leaders stated,“The other day during Raila-led protests in Nairobi, we saw you act tough and even remarked that you do not fear being taken to International Criminal Court (ICC). Why don’t you come here and say the same to the bandits who are attacking us daily.”
They even sought a one on one with president Ruto, stating that the IG is not doing his job.
They stated,”IG Koome has failed in his job and the only way we can solve this problem is if we have a one on one with the president.”
Confirming the attack was the area Chief Emanuel Chesta who explained that the bandits attacked the villagers while they were going on with their herding and other activities of daily living.
The chief stated,”During the ambush, they killed a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old youth. They also got away with 500 sheep, 50 goats and 60 cows.”
The West Pokot County commissioner also confirmed the incident and assured that authorities were already in place to fish out the bandits.
He stated,”The bandits went into hiding with the raided livestock and security officers are already on the ground searching for them,”
