We will desert you immediately- Mt. Kenya leaders warn Ruto against handshake.
Yesterday, Mt. Kenya leaders outrightly threatened to decamp from Kenya kwanza, If president Ruto even tries to consider a handshake with opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a development tour in Meru County, area Senator Kathuri Muringi highlighted that they will cut ties with president Ruto as witnessed during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime if he bring Raila into the executive.
He stated,”If you make a mistake and get into a handshake with that person, we will desert you immediately. Don’t bow to pressure from anyone. As the Senate, we are ready to support you in the bipartisan talks.”
Reacting to Muringi’s sentiments, president Ruto stated that the only matters he’s open to are development based and he won’t consider any handshake.
He urged Meru residents to focus on crop production if they are interested in development in their area.
He stated,”The way to development is not traversing the streets with sufurias on your head and making noises. The way to development is taking your seeds, planting in your shambas and harvesting the produce.”
President Ruto further promised to support the residents and also bring multiple projects to the area.
He stated,”In partnership with the County Government, we will ensure that the milk coolers reach every part of Meru County. Meru County has about 430 kilometres of roads that we began in the last administration. Around 42 per cent we completed, but around 200 Kilometres were yet to be completed.”
“We began a special programme to ensure that the remaining roads are completed. These roads must be completed urgently,” he added.
