The national police service has given a report on their progress with the end illicit brew drive. They headlined that Several arrested in the counterfeit and illicit brew crackdown.
The statement read,”The National Police Service has sustained the fight against counterfeit alcoholic drinks and illicit brews in the Country. Yesterday in Matungulu, Machakos County, a collaborative effort between NPS officers and KRA officials led to the confiscation of 34 cartons of second generation liquors known as “Millionaire” and “Trace.”
In Kericho County, Police conducted an operation within Jambo Kenya Trading Centre arrested two persons in connection to the sale of counterfeit second generation liquors Also confiscated were 20 bottles of Jambo Extra, 52 Bottles of Tycoon Vodka and 31 bottles of Best Gin.
In Murang’a County, a multi-agency team raided Stage Bar in Gacharage where 33 cartons or liquor, brand name “Fiesta Ice” and 46 empty crates of the same brand were confiscated and one person arrested.
This comes after the deputy president launched an end to illicit brew, in central Kenya and all other parts of the country.
He stated,” To address the menace of illicit brew and substance abuse in our nation, we must all pull together in one direction to save our generation from perishing. A multi-sectoral approach to this end brings an impetus to achieving positive results.”
“We adopted incredible resolutions, which, key among other issues, established a 20-member committee to steer drafting of a law to regulate the distribution and sale of alcohol in the five counties. Upon adoption, it will provide a legal framework for ending illicit brew and drug abuse in the Region, which is the most affected in the country at 14%,” he added.
