NPS Athletics meet 2023 comes to an end.
The national police service has announced that NPS Athletics meet 2023 comes to an end. The event was taking place at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani
The statement;
Today’s event saw Mary Moraa who is the current national record holder for the 400m race take lead in the women’s final while Brian Tinega of the Paramilitary General Service Unit (GSU) took first place in the men’s final of the same race.
Maximilla Imali from DCI took the lead in both the 200 and 100m races women category, while Richard Ogutu took first position in the 100m finals men category.
Abel Kipsang put on a spectacular performance in the 1500m race Elijah Manangoi coming a close second.
Gladys Kwamboka and Timothy Katam dominated the 10,000m event.
The exhilarating tug of war was the final event of the day with fan favorites, GSU tag of war team beating a tenacious Anti-Stock Theft Unit in the final.
The Chief Guest, Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja awarded trophies to the winning teams who competed in 42 events. The National Police College Main Campus Kiganjo led by their Commandant, Mr. Nyale Munga, SAIG, garnered a total of 19 medals.
Nairobi Area under the Command of Mr. Adamson Bungei, AIG emerged the Best Team Overall with a total of 25 medals.
Mr. Kanja who was representing the Inspector General of Police at the event congratulated all the 16 teams assuring them of NPS support as they continue to fly the Police flag high.
The winning team will represent NPS in the forthcoming National Athletics Championship.
