Speaking to the media, Trade Cabinet secretary revealed, Government to establish a local company for dismantling End of life Vehicles.
He revealed that he has been working closely with a number of Japanese investors, who are willing to dismantle the old vehicles.
He expressed his excitement, stating that for the longest time, the government didn’t know what to do with this old vehicles.
He stated,”For the longest time, we have had the dilemma of where to take our automobiles that can no longer be used. Am very excited to have met the Japanese Investors who are working closely with JICA and the Numerical Machine complex to establish a local company for dismantling End of life Vehicles.”
The trade cabinet secretary, Outlined that when everything is in place, citizens will be able to sell their rusting and old vehicles.
These vehicle will be dismantled in a very eco- friendly way through their high level technology. Additionally, a government policy will be put in place, where old government vehicles can be disposed to avoid threats to the environment.
He stated,”When all is set up, in a few months time, you would be able to sell that junk vehicle in your compound and the investors will dismantle it in a very Environmentally friendly and sophisticated technology. I have also committed to have a Government policy in place so as we can dispose obsolete Government vehicles lying around.”
“In other developed countries, they impose a disposal levy at the time of purchasing your vehicle. When these heavy metals are not properly disposed of, they constitute a very serious threat to the environment and an expensive health hazard to people,” he added.
