Kenya kwanza senators vote against the impeachment of Oduol as they castigate previous impeachments.
Yesterday, The senate held proceedings to determine whether Siaya deputy governor, William Oduol is fit for Office.
This comes days after he publicly accused the governor, James Orengo for graft charges in the county.
27 Kenya kwanza senators vote, was against the impeachment of the deputy governor, which outweighed the 17 votes from the Azimio la umoja side.
Defending the deputy governor, A section of leaders in the senate called out previous cases where former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu were wrongly impeached.
According to senator Dullo, former Nairobi county governor, Mike Sonko was ousted from office on false allegations which she termed as political witch-hunt.
Dullo stated,”We have only carried out two impeachment motions in this house. The impeachments of Waititu and Sonko were political. I don’t see why we should kill the career of politicians based on political witch-hunt.”
On his part, Nandi County Senator, Samson Cherargei outlined that Oduol is being used as a scapegoat to blind the country from what is happening.
He stated,”The Deputy Governor of Siaya is being sacrificed at the expense of others. The Senate has previously seen such cases. EACC should descend to Siaya county like yesterday.”
“As I said H.E William Oduol remains as Deputy Governor of siaya County. Impeachment Proceedings at senate finds him NOT Guilty. In Parliament we shall NOT allow Tinga/Azimio-OKA to win on any anything,” Cherargei added.
