Speaking during the unveiling of the digitized services, President Ruto rolls a paybill number of all government Services.
The head of state highlighted that this will be a financial management way, to ensure efficiency and cut down on corruption tendencies that is witnessed by physical interactions in government offices.
He further explained that government departments were operating through many Pay Bill Numbers, so as to avoid confusion, citizens seeking services from the government, will thus remit their funds via the Pay Bill number 222222.
He stated,”We must shut down the rest of the Pay Bill Numbers and remain only with one to channel all the money to the government through Treasury.”
The commander in chief further explained that All government revenue must go through 222222, so that Treasury can have sight of every government service that is paid for.
He added,”In the next 90 days, all other pay bills must be shut down because we have a problem of some of the pay bills that we cannot even account for.”
Notably, the president expressed that the paybill will be cost effective although a very small fee will be charged.
He stated,”Mobile money pay bill numbers are a convenient and secure way for the government to collect payments from those seeking services. The 222222 Pay Bill Number offers a cost-effective way to collect payments, as there are very small fees associated with it.”
Notably, The president promised that affordable smartphones will be available in August, which will contain the government services.
He stated,”We are well on course with our telcos in making sure that by August we will have affordable smartphones, working between the government of Kenya and our telcos, of 40 dollars (around kshs 5,400). You can now have a smartphone where all government services will be available.”
