312 people who directly or indirectly influenced Yesterday’s protests have been arrested- CS Kindiki.
Speaking at the official opening of Kiserian Police Station and Olosurutia Sub-Location offices in Kajiado North Constituency, Kajiado County, Interior cabinet secretary, Kithure Kindiki revealed officially that arrests have started countrywide, regarding yesterday’s violent protests.
He outlined that the individuals will be charged with various criminal offences, as the law enforcement continues with more arrests countrywide.
He stated,”312 people who directly or indirectly planned, orchestrated, or financed yesterday’s violent protests and acts of lawlessness,
including a Member of Parliament, have been arrested, and will be charged with various criminal offences. The search for more culprits is on,”
The cabinet secretary highlighted that the government will not allow any acts of lawlessness in the name of protests.
Kindiki said,”Violent protests that lead to deaths, injury of civilians and security officers, disruption of daily businesses, destruction of private and public property, and looting are acts of lawlessness that can neither be accepted nor tolerated,”
“There is no relationship between lowering the cost of living and destruction of critical infrastructure built using public funds. That is hooliganism, lawlessness, and a recipe for anarchy,” he added.
Notably, he stated that all law enforcers will continue doing their work of maintaining law and order which includes dealing with anyone who is out to cause mayhem.
He stated,”Security officers are directed to enforce the law firmly and decisively and deal with all criminals, including economic saboteurs, looters, and vandals, who are destroying private and private property.”
