Kenyans must pay for the damage within 28 days- CS Murkomen on Nairobi expressway damage.
Speaking during the inspection of the Mlolongo toll station, road cabinet secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that Kenya had contract with the operator, that will need to be paid within 28 days.
The cabinet secretary outlined that any money that will be used on the operator, will be fully refunded or catered for by those who orchestrated yesterday’s violent protests.
CS Murkomen stated,”The damage done on the Nairobi Expressway during the demonstrations could be anything up to 5 million dollars (Ksh705 million). Under the agreement, Kenyans must pay for the damage within 28 days.”
“We will ensure all those who organised the mass action will personally pay for every damage caused. For every penny that will be paid from the exchequer, they will be asked to repay the people of Kenya,” he added.
The Cabinet secretary further detailed that all thanks to the CCTV cameras, several people have already been arrested. He urged all investors not to worry about the state of the nation because all perpetrators will be brought to book.
He stated,”We want to assure the investors that the government is going to do everything to make sure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.Those planning to cause damage again will meet the full force of the law. We will make it very painful for them, not just now but for the rest of their lives.”
Currently, All Motorists plying the Westlands-Mlolongo route to exit from JKIA and Mlolongo-Westlands bound motorists to safely join the Nairobi Expressway from JKIA Toll Station.
