The deployment will not affect our elite Officers- CS Kindiki on Haiti.
Speaking at a church service in St. Andrews ACK Ndenderu, Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, The interior Cabinet secretary, Kithure Kindiki clarified that some of the Kenyan officers will be exempted from deployment.
He explained that the elite officers will not be deployed because this will impair Kenya’s national security.
He stated,”The deployment will not affect our elite, specialist-trained officers who are helping us in the fight against terror, banditry and also other serious threats to our national security.”
“We have other officers we can reorganise and see whom to send there,” he added.
The cabinet secretary further assured that the move to deploy Kenyan officers will not in any way affect the commitment Kenya has in maintaining security.
He stated,”I want to assure you that as the CS responsible for the security of the country, our deployment of officers in Haiti will not in any way affect our programs, our resolve and commitment to make sure that we defeat all the enemies of our security across our country.”
Notably, CS Kindiki revealed that Kenya is yet to deploy the 1,000 police officers to Haiti, contradicting Foreign Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua’s statement that select police officers were already in learning, in preparation for the deployment.
Kenya’s move to deploy its officers to Haiti, has received a lot of mixed reactions. In his opinion, Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga stated that Kenya already has its own problems
Raila stated,”We have enough problems in this region. We have our soldiers in Somalia and others in DRC, I don’t see the Haiti situation as a priority.”
