Netizens Weep for Athi River Residents whose House are being demolished.
On Friday, President William Ruto ordered demolition of Undeveloped Lands in Athi River and Revoking of Land Titles, which started with immediate effect.
Expressing her sadness was Machakos County Governor, Wavinya Ndeti who stated that she’s moving to court to stop to exercise.
She stated,”Kama ni kwako mweshimiwa Ruto ungekubali hiyo ifanyike. We cannot allow that. We cannot allow you to bring down churches,”
“I want to tell His Excellency, that you were talking about bottoms up, you talked about caring about people who are down here. What is happening is that the same people ndo unawaumiza. Why are you doing that?” She posed.
She added,”I have instructed our lawyers through the office of the County Attorney to have the orders striking out the suit reversed through an appeal.”
Reacting to the same story were netizens;
Boniface Mwangi stated,”As an Athi River land owner, I will tell you for a fact that some of our leaders in cahoots with land cartels sold unsuspecting genuine buyers stolen land. The most corrupt office of DCI Kenya in Machakos County is in Athi River. They work with land cartels even to steal land from genuine owners. There are areas in the Athi River where genuine owners have been kicked out, their land fenced, subdivided and sold. When you report to the police, they demand cash and then do nothing about it. The genuine owners receive death threats and move on, and the corrupt Ministry of Lands employees issue new titles.”
Dictator watch wrote,”I thought William Ruto said “undeveloped land”? So how more developed can this get? Ruto missed out on Athi River Land. Though he got plenty on Mombasa Rd. So he’s making up for it by practically robbing other grabbers.”
Wambua stated,”Multiple buildings have been demolished in Athi River, following Machakos High Court ruling, which declared the occupation of the land illegal. This has left residents homeless,we are waiting for El nino, economy is high,yesterday some slept in streets.we plead for intervention.”
