CS Kuria proposes Service Fee at all Huduma Centres.
Public Service cabinet secretary, Moses Kuria has proposed a charge fee, for all services offered at Huduma Centres across the Country.
He stated,”You have been enjoying these services without paying, there is no more free lunch. You have to pay for it, we will introduce a fee for service for government service and private service to support our e-commerce because Huduma Centre will be the backbone for e-commerce.”
He was speaking during the takeover of the State Department of Public Service, However, Kuria’s Communication Officer Josiah Murigu explained that the proposal was still in the early stages.
Josiah stated,”We have not settled on the amount yet, this is one of the many changes we want to introduce as a way of improving this ministry.”
Kuria revealed that Kenya kwanza expects his docket to work towards sustainability and reduce the reliance on the exchequer.
“This is one of the areas (Huduma Centres) that the public sector has outshined the private sector. It’s my vision that I’ll be able to transit public servants from public employment,where most of them believe they are in, to public service where the 900,000 of us should be ,to serve the 54 million Kenyans as they deserve.”
There are approximately 52 Huduma Centres across the Country. Some of the Services offered include; at Huduma Centres include National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) registration, national ID application, student loan application (HELB), driver’s license and renewal, and single business permit among others.
