Pastors from 33 churches speak after falling victims of Mavoko Demolitions.
Speaking to the media, Bishop Theophilus of Holy Vision centre has expressed his sadness saying there’s nothing more they can do to protect the churches.
This comes 10 days after they were given a grace period, To collect their valuables, before the holy buildings face the bulldozers.
The bishop said,”Kusema ukweli, hatujui tutafanya nini, kwa maana sasa, kila mtu kwa sababu kila mtu anaokoa kenye anaweza okoa kwa sababu ukiangalia hata hapa washirika wetu wote wamehama na kila mtu ameenda,”
The neighboring church, Jesus Magnifying centre, led by pastor James Mwaniki, revealed that they had been promised, the church will not be demolished, but it seems things have taken a turn.
Among the many churches, is a school by the name Whiteland community, which was also demolished. The youth in the area are now in the works of collecting metals for sale.
One youth stated,”Mimi mkazi wa huku na hatungeacha chuma hapa, ju hatuna Mboka [kazi]. Nilimaliza shule last year na sina kazi. Mimi huku narauka kila siku, kama nimeandikwa, nakuja nitafute,”
