Details of the Meeting between President Ruto and The Queen of Netherlands.
On Monday, The head of state Held talks with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Queen Maxima is also the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for inclusive finance for development
President William Ruto revealed that the Dutch government has committed to creating a partnership to fight cancer in children between the Princess Maxima Centre for Pediatric Oncology in the Netherlands, and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
In addition, The Kingdom will be supporting climate change mitigation measures.
President Ruto stated,”We are committed to strengthening our bilateral relations with the Kingdom of the Netherlands to aid our shared pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals.
”Our partnership now includes the establishment of a Ksh 1.52 billion Fish Processing Plant in Turkana and neighbouring counties and the implementation of the Agricultural Working Group that will work to enhance agri-business in both nations among other initiatives,” he added.
Notably, President Ruto also met up with Japanese ambassador to Kenya Ken Okaniwa, who delivered a message from Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and apprised The head of state on next year’s official visit to Japan.
President Ruto stated,”We are grateful for Japan’s funding of infrastructure projects in health, agriculture and education among them a high-tech laboratory/ facility upgrade at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), the Southern by-pass in Mombasa and an intelligent transport system in Mombasa County.”
“Kenya and Japan are celebrating 60 years of diplomacy, friendship and partnership. We share a long history of trade, cordial relations and strong cooperation,” he added.
