Meteorology Department gives a high alert Warning to 16 Counties over Potential Floods.
The Kenyan meteorological department, has issued a high alert warning over heavy rains that are likely to happen in several parts of the country as from Friday.
The department listed Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Embu, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Murang’a, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Kwale, and Mombasa as counties that are likely to experience the heavy rains.
They outlined that the rains will intensify from Friday in the North Eastern and central parts of Kenya and are expected to spread to several parts of North Eastern, the Central Highlands and South Coast accompanied by gusty winds and potential floods.
The notice read,”Residents are advised to avoid driving through, or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows when raining to minimize exposure to lightning strikes.”
“The strong winds may blow off roofs, uproot trees and cause structural damages. Updates will be provided promptly if there are any changes,” Kenya Met added.
