Sad state of Unemployment as Thousands line up in a bid to secure A job.
In a video that circulated online, Thousands of Kenyans had lined up with the hope of securing a job in the 1,500 vacancies that were advertised by a Kenyan agency.
The agency was seeking to fill the positions of dishwashers, butchers, waiters, waitresses, and security guards, among others.
According to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in 2022, unemployed Kenyans increased from 2.89 million in September 2022 to 2.97 million in December 2022.
In september This year, Kenya defence force announced that they required more personnel. Ambitious Youths turned up but The KDF shortlisted 1,606 candidates to join the force.
KDF stated,” The shortlisted candidates are required to report for interviews at respective recruitment centres and on dates as indicated on the advert.”
“All the candidates are reminded that the Kenya Defence Forces recruitment exercise is free to all eligible candidates. Members of the public are warned against engaging in recruitment malpractices and are encouraged to report any recruitment malpractices to the nearest police station or military camps or call hotline numbers 0726419709 or 0726419706,” KDF added.
This comes even after the public service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Stated that he will launch ‘ job bila connection’ portal where Kenyans can apply for Jobs, irregardless of their background.
CS Kuria stated,” In the public sector, we are going to lead from the front in being an equal opportunities employer. We will soon develop a portal for all Kenyans to apply for jobs in the public sector regardless of their background dubbed the Jobo Bila Connection initiative.”
“The youth unemployment matter should be a concern for all of us because we are not safe unless all of us are safe,” he added.
