In a communique from the ministry of interior, state declares Monday November 13th a public holiday in order to plant trees countrywide.
The ministry of Interior stated,”Following the decision of the Cabinet sitting in Mombasa on Friday November 3, 2023, Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kindiki Kithure has declared a special holiday on Monday, November 13, 2023, during which the public across the Country shall be expected to plant trees as a patriotic contribution to the national efforts to save our Country from the devastating effects of Climate Change.”
Kindiki explained that the exercise is part of Kenya’s landscape and ecosystem restoration Programme that is aimed at planting 15 Billion trees.
The ministry outlined that There will be a designated national venue for the tree planting that will be Presided over by his excellency president William Ruto.
The ministry however, highlighted that the ongoing National Examinations scheduled for that day shall proceed normally.
