Gov’t Increases ID replacement fee from sh100 to sh2000; Passport and visa fee also increase.
In a communique, Interior cabinet secretary, Kithure Kindiki stated that gov’t Increases ID replacement fee, Visa fee and Passport fee.
Other documents include birth certificates which increased from Ksh50 to Ksh200, civil servants’ cards from Ksh100 to Ksh1000, staff badges will have to pay Ksh1000 from Ksh350, late registration of Birth certificates will cost Ksh150 while late registration of death certificate will similarly cost Ksh500 from Ksh150.
Additionally, re-registration of birth certificate will cost Ksh1000 from Ksh90, while amendments of both birth and death certificates will cost Ksh1000 from Ksh30.
On matters Digital ID, Immigration and Citizen Services PS Prof Julius Bitok noted that the pilot phase will target first-time applicants
He stated,”All Kenyans turning 18 years in whichever part of Kenya will be issued with a Maisha Card on a pilot basis. This way, we will establish whether there are any errors or issues before we do the penultimate launch.”
On passports, ordinary 66-page passport has been increased from Ksh 7,500 to Ksh 12,000 and ordinary 34-page passport has been hiked from Ksh 4,500 to Ksh 7,500.
Notably, A diplomatic 50-page document is also set to rise from Ksh7,500 to Ksh15,000 while the fee for an ordinary 50-page document will tick up from Ksh 7,500 to Ksh 9,500.
On replacing a lost passport, one will spend Ksh20,000 from ksh12,000 while the cost of replacing a mutilated passport will increase from Ksh10,000 to Ksh20,000.
A single journey visas have been doubled from Ksh 7,572 to Ksh 15,145 while the fee for a multiple journey visa has been hiked from Ksh 15,145 to Ksh 75,725.
