The PLAN has started to bear fruits- President Ruto State Address.
Speaking during the State address in Parliament, will ensure that every bit of his promise to kenyans will come true.
He stated,”The journey of transforming Kenya kenya for future generations is well underway. The PLAN has started to bear fruits and from the first day we have wroked hard to move the country forward despite challenges.”
The president attributed the tough economic times to the covid 19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts.
He stated,”The Covid 19 pandemic coupled with global supply chain disruptions and geopolitical conflicts significantly raised inflation and interest rates adversely affecting our economy while low agricultural investment and a prolonged drought led to food shortages.”
He however, Highlighted that the government has significantly reduced the cost of fertilizer in order to Increase crop production, the cost of maize flour and other commodities.
He stated,” We have reduced the cost of fertilizer from 6500 to 2500 and increased maize acreage under production by an extra 200,000 acres this year. As a result of these interventions, today a 2kg packet of maize flour is selling at a low of 145 and a high of 175 depending on the brand you buy, down from 250 shillings a few months ago.”
On matters health, The president outlined that the government is more focused on preventative health care which is currently in place.
President Ruto stated,”We have deployed 100,000 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) fully equipped with the necessary kits and an electronic community health information system. In the last one month, CHPs have attended to 1.2M households. I spoke on phone with Mr. Masoud – a CHP in Garissa – who, unlike before, has a complete medical kit and has used it to confirm that 7 people in his locality had high blood pressure. In a twist of fate, he tested himself and discovered that he too had high blood pressure and had to go to hospital.”
Notably, The president commended Kikuyu MP Ichungwah and Kalonzo on matters Bipartisan dialogue.
He stated,”It would be remiss of me not to mention the ongoing bipartisan process of national dialogue that has enabled our leaders to find common ground on many of the issues whose resolution will accelerate our transformation. I thank Kalonzo Musyoka and Kimani Ichung’wah for doing a wonderful job.”
