Ex Mungiki leader Maina Njenga Finally speaks on Mungiki, DP Gachagua and The Matatu Industry
Speaking at an Interview in Citizen TV, Ex Mungiki leader Maina stated that he has no problem with deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua as everyone thinks.
He stated,” I have no problem with the DP. The DP says he is a son of Mau Mau and I’m also a son of Mau Mau so we need all the sons of Mau Mau to come and meet.”
As a sign of Unity, Maina Njenga Announced that he will hold a council meeting, where all Mt Kenya leaders are invited.
He stated,”have been talking to the council of elders, the kiama and all the other leaders and we will write to governors, senators, MPs and MCAs from all the Mt. Kenya regions. The purpose is to thank God for how far he has brought us.”
“The reason for choosing Nyeri is because it is somehow in the centre of our mountain and everything Mt. Kenya related. Nyeri is also home to many heroes like Dedan Kimathi, Mwai Kibaki and Wangari Maathai among others.”
On matters Mungiki, Maina Njenga revealed that Mungiki is no longer there , he retired a long time ago.
He stated,”Some 40 years ago, I used to lead that organization called Mungiki, but after 20 years, I retired. Mungiki is not there anymore.”
Notably, Njenga revealed that they had an agreement with Late president Moi to organize the matatu industry.
He stated,”We had authority from President Daniel Moi to organize the matatu industry… We were not demanding money from them; there was an agreement that we should take a certain amount of money for our upkeep.”
