Raila pushes for Resignation of 2 Kenya Kwanza CSs implicated in 17Bn oil deal.
Raila pushes for Resignation; Speaking on Monday, Opposition leader, Raila Odinga stated that Energy CS Davis Chirchir and Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u needed to resign over the Sh17 billion oil deal.
Raila highlighted that not only are they supposed to resign, but also be prosecuted for breaking the law even as they serve in the government as cabinet secretaries.
Opposition leader stated,”CSs Davis Chirchir and Njuguna Ndung’u have gone against the constitution, committed criminal offences, and abused office. They must not only resign but also be prosecuted,”
“Also, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum must make public the Supplier Purchase Agreement signed with the oil companies,” Raila added.
Notably, Raila calls for investigations on the violation of consumer rights, transparency of fuel contracts, criminal collusion through price fixing in the alleged G-to-G oil arrangement.
This comes days after Raila Odinga busted the bubble and declared that the government to government oil deal between Kenya and Saudi Arabia is nothing but an impending scam.
He stated,”We challenge the government to share evidence of the oil payments and show documents indicating when they were made, as well as bank accounts and recipients.”
On the same issue was Busia senator Okiya omtatah who urged the cabinet secretaries to come clean and explain what happened.
The Sh17 billion saga involves businesswoman Ann Njeri Njoroge who claimed that the government illegally stole her oil that was destined for Kenya.
