El nino rains tragedy in Mtwapa- Kilifi Road: The Kenya national highways Authority, Issues an update on Mbogolo bridge, In the morning, they declared the road closed
KENHA stated,”KeNHA informs the public that Mbogolo Bridge on Mtwapa – Kilifi (A7) Road has been cut off. The cut of this bridge disrupts traffic to and from Mombasa. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route of Mombasa-Mazeras-Kaloleni -Mavueni-Kilifi Road,”
“Currently new bridge is being constructed in this area as part of the Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road Project. KeNHA staff are on site to help restore traffic passage through the affected road section.
Motorists are asked to exercise restraint as efforts are made to restore traffic flow,” they added.
KENHA have stated that they hope to open up traffic in the next 24 hours even as they embark on restoring the washed away bridge.
They stated,”The Kenya National Highways Authority hereby notifies the public that water levels have slightly subsided at the Mbogolo Bridge,”
“KeNHA has started works to restore in ernest with backfilling of the washout sections.
The Authority estimates to open flow of traffic within 24 hours,” they added.
