Ichungwah responds to Wamalwa’s decline to append his signature on the NADCO Report.
Kikuyu member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwah responds to Wamalwa’s decline to sign the National dialogue committee report.
He detailed that Wamalwa left a day before the conclusion and compiling of the report, citing that he need to travel with the promise that he will appehend his signature when he gets back.
Ichungwah stated,”This one left on Friday ahead of conclusion of the talks claiming he was traveling to Kinshasa and left his blessings to the rest of their team saying he would sign when back.
Ichungwah further outlined that Wamalwa’s stance on the report is one of the challenges they faced throughout the dialogue, as indicated in the report as forces linked to external capture.
Ichungwah stated,”As indicated in our statement, all along there were forces linked to past state capture that were hellbent on scuttling the talks,”
“They are at pains now that the process never collapsed as they had prayed for and their state capture master is VERY mad,” he added.
Speaking at Ingolo Catholic Church, Wamalwa stated that he will not sign the report until areas like the cost of living are addressed.
He stated,”l didn’t & will not append my signature to the NADCO report,& have not &will not accept any sitting allowance for the same because l believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans i.e cost of living.”
“I urge our Azimio leaders to reject the National Dialogue Committee report in totality because it has failed to address the high cost of living. The KK regime wants to see Kenyans suffer more as they loot public funds,” he added.
According to the report, the committee was unable to reach a consensus on a number of other proposals on the matter of cost of living, including the reduction of VAT on fuel from 16% to 8%, and scrapping of the housing levy, the twin issues in the Finance Act 2023.
