EACC Finally Arrests 3 Traffic Officers who had made Naivasha an Extortion spot.
Following investigations into numerous complaints of extortion received from motorists and members of the public using Naivasha- Maimahiu Road, EACC finally arrests 3 Traffic Police Officers No. 69992 Cpl James Njeru, No. 58608 Dickson Njagi and No. 79891 James Mwai.
The three were apprehended in a nearly fatal operation conducted along near Karagita turn-off after one traffic officer resisted arrest and fired gunshots at the EACC Detectives.
Another traffic officer attempted to resist arrest by biting one of the EACC detectives, who has since been treated and discharged from the hospital.
In the scuffle, two officers escaped into the nearby bushes with part of the morning cash collection.
The arrested suspects were escorted to Integrity Centre Police Station in Nairobi where they were processed and later detained at Kilimani Police Station pending further action.
Commenting on the incident was Ethics and Anti- corruption commission Chief Executive officer, Twalib Mbarak who appreciated the support accorded to EACC by the Inspector General of Police.
This comes after the Inspector General of police, called for withdrawal of firearms from police officers deployed to manage traffic on Kenyan roads.
