Kenya Met Warns of heavy rainfall accompanied by Storms beginning between Sunday, December 10, 2023 and 16th.
The areas that should be on high alert include; Lake Victoria Basin, Central highlands, South Eastern lowlands, Southern Rift Valley, the Coastal strip, and Western Kenya.
Kenya met stated,”Beginning Sunday 10th December, isolated storms and intense rainfall are forecast for the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya & South Rift Valley. Residents are forewarned to adhere to weather and flood alerts to avert more injuries and fatalities.”
Notably, Kenya met outlined that Strong easterly winds of more than 25 knots (12.5 m/s) are expected over Turkana County while North Eastern and North Western Kenya are likely to be generally dry.
Kenya Met stated,”Rainfall is expected to continue over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast. Isolated storms and heavy rainfall are likely to occur over some parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya and South Rift Valley.”
