Contradicting statements from CS Chirchir and CS Murkomen about Frequent blackouts raises questions.
Contradicting statements from CS chirchir and CS Murkomen stirs up debate, with Kenyans asking who to trust.
According to CS Murkomen, The blackout was a sabotage, and a necessary cleanup of the mess continues at JKIA.
He stated,”Thecleanup of the mess at JKIA continues. The KAA Board is under strict instructions to carry on with the reform agenda and the management to implement, as directed, the report of the technical committee which I recently constituted.”
However, Energy cabinet secretary, Chirchir explained that the blackout was caused by an overload that caused power lines to drop, resulting to a blackout.
Chirchir explained,”We are building an alternative line to support the west of Kenya, through Narok- Bomet- Awendo to remove the constraint. We are ready to start and we are getting funding from South Korea and the Africa Development Bank. However the construction is not a quick fix it will take 20 months.”
Alai expressed,” If Chirchir is telling us that between Muhoroni and Kisumu, there is some 69MW demand which was NOT expected, let him show us the source of the demand. Between that area, we few manufacturers I know of. They are all using their own power except some two. Chirchir is lying. It’s not true that there was some 69MW extra demand over the 80MW capacity.”
The above statements have raised eyebrows from Kenyans;
Senator Boni Khalwale wrote; On nationwide blackouts & constant power outages:
~Davis Chirchir:
“This’s due to ageing powerlines. Embark on immediate load shedding”
~Kipchumba Murkomen:
“No! It’s sabotage! The Inspector General must commence immediate investigations”
~Khalwale:
“Gentlemen, please.”
The government critic wrote,”It’s pointless to ask Davis Chirchir to resign. CS Chirchir is not running that ministry, it’s being run from State House, he’s President Ruto’s proxy and ally.
The only way to prevent nationwide blackout and power interruptions at JKIA is to impeach Zakayo.”
