News Just In: Cabinet approves sh66 Billion plan set to end the Frequent Power Blackouts: The money will be used to unbundle the power lines.
The cabinet resolved that that the unbundling would ensure that power failure in one part of the nation did not affect all other parts of the country.
Notably, The government will construct a Narok- Bomet Line which is set to cost approximately 66 Billion. It is important to note that the construction of the Bomet-Narok line will be financed through loans advanced by the Africa Development Bank.
This comes after the Energy cabinet secretary, Davis Chirchir, stated that the Sunday evening blackout was caused by an overload on the Kisumu-Muhoroni transmission line.
He explained that the overload cause the power lines to drop, which results to a blackout.
The cabinet also approved installation of a multi-billion solar project for the Seven Fork Dams.
The solar project will have a 42MW battery power that is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply even in cases of power failure from the dams.
