EACC Reveals How an Employee scammed the Gov’t over sh100 Million: According to the Ethics commission, the accountant general of the Turkana County Government fraudulently awarded a Ksh100 million tender to a company he has a private interest in.
EACC stated,”This investigation commenced following an anonymous report made to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) alleging conflict of interest and embezzlement of funds.”
According to reports, on March 23, 2021, the company was issued with Local Purchase Order No 703 for the supply of 6,024 bags of corn soya blend dubbed Unimix for ECD schools at a unit price of Ksh4,150 per bag.
The company then had a deal with the Public Health Officer and members of the Inspection and Acceptance Committee to submit false delivery notes together with an invoice dated May 25, 2021, purporting that 6,024 bags of soya beans had been delivered to Turkana County Government.
EACC stated,”Ksh24,999,600 was paid to (the company) being payment for supplying 6,024 bags of corn soya blend which goods were never delivered to the County.”
EACC’s probe of Turkana County Government forms part of the long list of counties put under the commission’s radar on claims of embezzlement Of Government funds.
