Over 120k candidates didn’t get schools of choice: When the placement results were released on Monday, Director of Secondary Education Paul Kibet, outlined that approximately nine percent of the students were not able to secure a spot in their preferred schools.
This means, out of 1.4 million students placed in secondary schools, 126,029 candidates will not attend their schools of choice.
Placement considers many factors such as; merit, choice, affirmative action, and the availability of spaces.
If you want a transfer, students are required to complete an online transfer form and provide pertinent details
Requirements for transferring Form One placements:
One must have received a placement.
Must have an admission letter, found in the KEMIS website.
Endorsement of the admission letter by the primary school headteacher.
A copy of the birth certificate.
Procedure for transferring Form One secondary school placements:
Visit the portal: Form One Placement Change.
Select your county.
Choose your sub-county.
Enter your KCPE index number.
Click the submit button.
Download the admission letter and have it endorsed by the primary school headteacher.
Submit the stamped admission letter to the desired school.
The school principal must log in to the NEMIS portal to complete the transfer process.
Approval of the transfer may take up to three days.
Note: If the transfer is not approved promptly, seek assistance from the county education office.
