Christmas chronicles: Frustration as Hundreds are stranded on the Roads : Yesterday, Kenya National Highways Authority advises motorists to use alternative routes, this is due to the heavy traffic, that is being experienced especially along Nairobi- Nakuru highway.
Yesterday in a statement KENHA stated,”KeNHA alerts motorists plying or planning to use the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway of a traffic snarl up from Rironi occasioned by increased travel for festivities.Motorists are advised to maintain lane discipline and refrain from overlapping to prevent additional congestion.They can also use alternative routes,”
“Traffic police have been deployed to actively manage the situation,” they added.
Netizens have reacted;
Mburu lamented,”We need help on the Nairobi Nakuru highway. It’s a total mess starting from Limuru!”
Maggie expressed,”Nairobi Nakuru Highway something must be done we now need SGR connecting those areas up to western region.. something needs to be done maoni pia ni muhimu.”
The government critic expressed,”Instead of constructing the Mombasa Expressway, why can’t we make the Nairobi – Nakuru highway a dual carriage? It will not only reduce snarl ups but also road accidents.”
Edgar wrote,”The Nakuru Highway all the way to Eldoret and even Kericho is just hell to travel just like Narok-Kisii. Those people who visit home after several years “Abanyamwaka” are rushing home. However, I am impressed with the alertness of traffic police officers. They have literally controlled accidents.”
