Karua’s sentiments of ‘Ruto is not my president’ ignites debate: Speaking at a media station yesterday, Azimio’s Martha Karua highlighted that she does not recognize Ruto as the president of Kenya.
She stated,”Ruto is not my president. I reckon he is in office however he got there. I don’t believe in the process that gave him because it was flawed.”
Karua further compared the first year of previous governments to President Ruto citing that it has been a failure.
He stated,”It has been a dismal failure, with whining throughout, complaining and blaming Uhuru Kenyatta in a government which he (Ruto) was in. When President Kibaki came into government, he found the coffers empty but not once did we hear him state that since he found the coffers empty he could not work.”
“During Moi’s era, it was way better because, if you remember, when he wooed opposition members of Parliament and they defected, they would lose their seats, and we would go back to by-election. This is the first time we have a regime that is full of impunity, refuses to adhere to the law, and yet want to amend it,” she added.
Netizens have reacted;
The government critic stated,”Martha Karua is the only leader from azimio that is resolute and unwavering in her decisions. She said Ruto is not her President and she has maintained that till now. The kind of leaders Kenya needs.”
Mutwiri wrote,”Majority does not necessarily mean right or justice. It’s just numbers and they may be idiotic or ignorant. One underlying factor about Martha Karua she is more concerned with her conscious than people’s perception, same thing I admire to the young intent.”
Phelix expressed,”Martha Karua is clearly not afraid of anyone. I thought she might be under fire for saying that Ruto is not her president, but looks like she has all the valid reasons in her response.”
