Stop threatening the judiciary- Miguna warns Ruto after his speech on Judicial impunity.
Advocate Miguna Miguna has come out warn president Ruto after his speech on the Judiciary sabotaging his plans.
President Ruto stated,”We respect and support the independence of the judiciary, but we cannot allow it to be abused by a few judicial officials to create judicial impunity and tyranny.”
This however, Has raised mixed reactions with the likes of Miguna urging the president to stick by the constitution. He advised the president not to listen to autocratic individuals and not allow himself to become a tyrant.
Miguna stated,” I say NO! Stop threatening the judiciary. Remember that without the judiciary, you wouldn’t be president. You can’t pretend to protect the independence of the judiciary through threats. If you know thieves stealing public money (including those you protect like Atwoli) let us see them charged, tried and convicted. However, we say NO to autocracy.”
“Yes there is corruption in every sector of the Kenyan society, including at @StateHouseKenya, where you reside and work. These need to be dealt with in accordance with the law. Not through threats or extrajudicial means. Don’t listen to sycophants urging you to wield the sword. Those are autocratic enemies of the people. Restrain yourself. Don’t become a tyrant,” he added.
Notably, Miguna Reminded the president that Kenya has a framework through which it has always been run and President Ruto should respect that.
Miguna stated.”We have many lawful mechanisms of bringing about structural transformation of the Kenyan society. Use them. We have a plethora of strategies and tactics of wresting grand corruption in Kenya.
“But autocratic means are not among them. Avoid autocracy and those urging you to make the wrong turn. Because we still have enough patriotic Kenyans prepared and ready to sacrifice their lives IN DEFENSE of the CONSTITUTION, Democracy and the Rule of Law,” he added.
