Questions Raised Over Changing 2023 KCSE Results on KNEC Portal: Concerns have been raised about the credibility of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results after parents detected anomalies
According to photos shared by concerned parties, several schools got different results after trying to log in to the portal, the second time.
Screenshots of the results indicated that the grades of different subjects had changed, which has made concerned and affected parties, raise a debate.
Homa bay Legislator Kaluma wrote,”Parents do not sleep. The results are changing every minute. You blink, it goes to A, blink again, and it will be an E.”
MCA Alai wrote,”They are changing results all the time like Jose Carmago’s election results,”
For instance, a screen shot shared of a certain school, Indicate that a certain student, is said to have scored B+ and B- in Kiswahili at the same time and A- and B in Mathematics.
However, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and KNEC are yet to address the issue as students, parents and guardians have expressed their distress.
Discrepancies of KCSE have been likened to KCPE where Grades in Science and Social Studies & Religious Education were truncated incorrectly, missing the plus (+) and minus (-) signs as is the norm.
However, The Education cabinet secretary attributed the issue to the sms service provider, saying the they will no longer be used to relay results.
CS Machogu stated,”As a CS, I have learned lessons because you can see as a ministry, everything was right. Somebody we can call an outsider was given the contract but did not conform and do to the required standard. Moving forward, when we release the KCSE examinations, we will not be able to make use of the same service provider.”
