Uproar as State House renovation is set to cost taxpayers 795 Million: President William Ruto is expected to do a revamp of the 117-year-old State House in Nairobi .
According to reports, the head of state is expected to be away for two months, to allow renovation of the first house.
Several Kenyans have expressed their Nay say on state house Face Lift;
Eugene Wamalwa expressed,”We’ve witnessed the transformation of the state house, evolving from one appearance to another. Meanwhile, billions are allocated for the renovation of a building, despite the fact that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) hasn’t fully disbursed bursaries to students. It raises concerns that substantial funds are being directed towards the refurbishment of a state house that is rarely utilized while pressing educational needs remain unaddressed.”
Anuale posed,” Tanzania spent ksh175M to build their State House from scratch to what you see in frame one but it will cost ksh785M to renovate State House?“
The government critic expressed,”This State House is not the same as Uhuru Kenyatta left it, I remember President William Ruto taking time to occupy it to allow for renovation. On top of that, there’s another new building constructed within where he used to host Somalia President.
It’s another scandal incoming.”
However, others are in support of the renovation, citing that state house is the face of Kenya.
Millicent Omanga expressed,” State House is a monument. It hosts president, others heads of state and VIPs from other countries when they visit Kenya. Thus it needs to be in a state that promotes our good image and markets our country. It’s renovation is well in order and shouldn’t be trivialised.”
Dan opined,”LMAAO mnacomplain State House ikifanyiwa renovation which will cost us Ksh 795 M, kwani hamtaki a decent one? This is the face of Kenya where you earn respect from visitors, hii si nyumba ya kulala huko ushagoo. Tuache complain kila saa.”
