President Ruto Responds to Creation of A New County in Western: Speaking at a political rally in the Western region, The head of state outlined that it will not easy but as the president , he would push for the creation of Teso County.
What you are asking me is hard but I will try my best,” Ruto promised amidst cheers from Teso Community.
He however, gave out a warning that he would not honour the request made by the Teso residents if they kept giving votes to his political rivals.
He stated,” If you want me to continue working for you, then you must also reciprocate during the voting period.”
He was accompanied accompanied by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba who promised him that the region would support him politically.
Creation of Teso County and Saboti County were among the recommendations made by the national dialogue committee.
However, on his part, Raila opined that creation of a new county was not wise when it comes to developmental growth citing that initially, the plan was to have fewer counties with Kakamega and Bungoma initially proposed as one county.
Raila stated,” A nation like the United States has 52 States with Texas being bigger than Kenya. The country has 47 counties, and when the counties are large, development is well streamlined. Smaller counties are not the solution.”
