The Teacher by the name Thomas Kibet, a 55-year-old headteacher of Kagir Primary School was on a motorcycle with his wife and child when the unfortunate incident happened.
The motorcycle is owned by a police reservist who was also the rider. The teacher, who was on his way to Kipcherer Secondary School for a function, was ambushed by the bandits, leaving him dead while the wife and child are currently in critical condition.
A report from Baringo Police Commander Julius Kiragu, the teacher was shot in the head during the ambush and died on the spot.
His wife and child were rushed to Marigat Sub County Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
This comes two weeks after armed bandits shot dead one National Police Reservist in Graton village, Laikipia North Sub-county, leaving five nursing serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, Laikipia County Commissioner (CC), Joseph Kanyiri, said that security officers were ambushed as they were pursuing the bandits after they raided the homestead and made away with nine cows that were later recovered.
Laikipia County commissioner stated,”The bandits can’t be working alone, they could be working in collaboration with some locals of Chumvi, Kimugandura, and some other areas. Mukogodo forest terrain is tortuous and unforgiving.”
