KUCCPS Raises Alarm over Worrying Trend in 2023 KCSE Candidates’ Applications: The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has raised concerns over applications submitted by students who scored Grade D and E in the 2023 KCSE.
In a statement on Saturday, the placement body expressed that the applications were low compared to the students who sat the exams.
Considering that those who scored Grades D and E represent the highest number of 2023 KCSE candidates, they cited that this is a worrying trend.
According to the results, 494,317 students out of the 895,533 scored Grade D and Below. Candidates are therefore advised to take advantage of the extended deadline to submit their applications to join various tertiary institutions
On the other hand, the 494,317 students were advised to focus on Courses offered in TVETs which has no traffic compared to other institutions.
The statement read,” The number of applicants selecting degree programmes is higher than those applying for TVET courses so far. KUCCPS encourages those with mean grades between C and E to take advantage of the available TVET opportunities,”
“Particularly, applicants with D+ and E are still very low and we are encouraging them to apply. They should walk into their nearest TVET institution for assistance,” read part of the statement.
Note: Students with challenges can also visit various Huduma Centres across the country for assistance.
