BREAKING NEWS: KMPDU Sec Gen Atellah Has been Shot: The anti-riot Kenya police officer shot Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMPDU) Secretary general Davji Bhimji Atellah.
The medics were gathered at the gates of the Ministry of Health protesting delayed hiring of medical interns.
Dr. Atellah has however, been rushed to hospital for emergency care.
The KMPDU has issued a statement in which they condemned the incident and pointed out a possibility of rallying its members to protest against the government’s indifference to the plight of doctors in the country.
Netizens have also come out to condemn the Act;
The government critic expressed,”Some members of Senate in the US said that the Kenyan Police have no good history of handling people and therefore they do not qualify to go to Haiti. They were very right,
See what they’ve done to Davji Attellah in a peaceful demo at Ministry of Health.”
Nicholas wrote,” Yaani a Secretary General of KMPDU was shot by a police officer after protesting against delay in posting medical interns by the ministry of health, we don’t have a country here.“
DAP- K party stated,”
The incompetency at the Ministry of Health that has failed to post medical interns to serve Kenyans and instead focusing to tax Kenyans more is a bad disease. We strongly condemn the direct shooting and injury aimed at demonstrators led by KMPDU SG Dr. Davji Atellah.
