NEWS JUST IN: Tahmeed Bus Blows up After Collision With Tanker at Busia: Several people are feared dead and scores are nursing injuries after a Mombasa-bound Tahmeed bus was involved in a head- on collision with Tanker around the Mundika area in Busia County.
According to reports, the tanker ignited into flames after colliding with the bus, which was travelling from Busia to Mombasa.
Witnesses present at the scene claim that nearly all passengers on the bus have tragically perished in the incident
As of the time of publishing this article, bystanders had filled the Mundika market in an attempt to rescue any survivors
Videos that have circulated online showed charred remains of bodies at the scene which were strewn at the scene.
Smoke engulfed the air from the tanker as the rescuers attempted to put out the fire using a hosepipe.
The County Government Fire and Rescue Services team was sent out to assist in salvaging the remnants of the scene.
Motorists Association of Kenya has condemned the tragic explosion, noting that urgent action needed to be taken to prevent future accidents.
“We are shocked and saddened by the tragic crash explosion involving travellers after an oil tanker and a Mombasa-bound bus head-on collision at Mundika, Busia, rescue efforts are underway.”
Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
