Plane crashes at Nairobi National Park after colliding with a passenger plane mid-air: Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) on Tuesday, March 5, confirmed that two planes collided mid-air in Nairobi airspace.
According to reports, the two airplanes had collided within Nairobi Airspace with one of the planes crash- landing in Nairobi park.
KCCA stated that investigations had commenced to determine what caused the collision.
“Kenya Civil Aviation Authority wishes to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred at 10:05hrs involving a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety-Nines Flying School and a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation Limited,” the Authority stated.
“Investigations have commenced through various agencies led by the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) and the National Police Service to establish the cause of the accident.”
This was confirmed by the Diani-bound flight, which stated that it was compelled to turn back to Wilson Airport due to an emergency.
“We wish to report that this morning at 9:45 Local Time our flight number 053 with 39 passengers and 5 crew on board headed to Diani experienced a loud bang soon after take-off,” the statement from the airline read.
Immediately after the incident, the crew made a professional call to immediately turn back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. The plane managed to land safely and inspection started on what could have caused the bang.
According to the airline, there were no casualties reported, all 39 passengers and crew members are all fine.
The statement read,”The relevant agencies have been notified and are investigating this incident,”
