Sakaja Finally Breaks Silence after Floods Killed Several and Damaged Property: In a statement on Monday, Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja issuer five directives to Nairobi Resident in Regards to the Sunday Night Floods that caused Havoc.
Sakaja directed the Nairobi Water Sewerage Company to mobilise its water bowsers to be deployed in affected areas and also provide residents with clean water.
He also ordered the public health officers and Community Health Providers (CHP) to reinforce the ground support through the distribution of water treatment tablets and offering psychosocial support to the affected.
He stated,” I want to appeal to our fellow brothers and sisters living along riparian and flood-prone areas to heed the calls of our Disaster Management teams to move from these areas.”
The governor further sent condolences to the families of all those who lost relatives, he revealed that the county government was working with the national government, the National Police Service and the Red Cross to offer emergency support to Nairobi residents.
The Governor also issued a directive to Green Nairobi, an army of persons hired by the Nairobi County Government to clean the city and unclog Nairobi drainage systems.
