Drama as Chief, Assistant are publicly Humiliated over failure to Deal With illicit brews: Chaos was witnessed during a baraza in Ngomongo area of Kutus, Kirinyaga County, on Wednesday after a chief and his assistant were reprimanded by Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Allasow who threatened to sack them in public.
The administrators were only spared after pleas from members of the public who begged for them to be forgiven.
This comes after the County Commissioner learned that there was seizure of illicit brew at a den in their locality, and the arrest of a suspect who had Ksh.1 million in cash.
The County Commissioner stated, “Hawa wawili nawalaumu…hawa nitawakaanga. Siwezi kuwasamehea, wamefanya kazi gani? Mpaka DC, OCPD wakuje ashike watu hapa, hawa walikuwa wanafanya kazi gani? Chief, ulikuwa unafanya kazi gani hapa? Sichezi na mtu…Siwezi kumsameha,”
“If you are an Assistant Chief in this area, and you are the first to consume illicit brew, how will you stop the menace?”he posed.
The two have been allowed back to work but given strict warning over the peddling of illicit brew in their locality.
