KTN Journalist Goes Into Hiding After Receiving Threats for Political Coverage: According to Osinde Obare who works at Standard Media Group, he received threats on Thursday following his coverage of the chaos that happened at a burial ceremony in Trans-Nzoia County last week.
The Journalist has since assumed that the coverage did not sit right with a number of influential politician, citing the kind of threats he has been receiving.
He narrated,”On Monday I heard movements outside my house, and people knocking roughly. I told my wife to stay quiet as the people knocking were not talking. We waited until they left.”
Supporting him was the Human interest groups from Trans Nzoia County, who have urged the area police, to investigate the claims and help the journalist.
“We want the government to give him protection, and upkeep money to sustain him wherever he is hiding,” activist Boniface Kiranga stated.
“His family does not know where he is, and he is their sole provider.”
This is not the first time, Obare is facing threats, on February, he was assaulted while covering news along Kitale-Kapenguria road. At that time, he was covering news on EACC officials who were arresting a police officer for allegedly soliciting bribes along that road.
