Murkomen Suspends Issuance of Short- term PSV Licenses among other Directives
Murkomen Suspends Issuance of Short-Term PSV Licenses : Roads and Transports cabinet secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered the National Transport & Safety Authority (NTSA) not to issue Licenses to short- term PSV operator routes with immediate effect.
The cabinet secretary cited that this directive will be in place until a comprehensive review of all existing routes issued to PSVs operators is done.
Murkomen stated,” I have directed NTSA to immediately cease issuance of licenses for PSV operators, review all existing operator routes and only issue licenses upon vetting of the operators,”
Notably, CS Murkomen suspended speed limiter operators, responsible for fitting speed governors in PSVs, whose performance is below par as stipulated on NTSA reviews, similarly until the review is completed.
Further, Murkomen has pleaded with the Judiciary to develop new stern measures for drivers found culpable of breaking traffic rules.
He stated,”I would like those drivers charged with murder, if they survive that’s how serious this matter is.”
The cabinet secretary also directed that any PSV driver who works more than the provided 8 hours will have their license revoked.
