Ruto’s Ambassadorial Nominee Shocks Mps: Legislators conducting the vetting of President Ruto’s ambassador nominees, were left with questions as Charles Githinji, nominee for Consul-General to the DRC revealed that he lacked academic provisions for the job.
The National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee Learnt that his only academic qualification was the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in which he scored an D grade.
The committee was also surprised to learn that the only experience he had, was running a petrol station, which he had done in previous years.
The members of parliament were further left in shock after Mr. Githinji failed to answer basic questions such as the difference the country’s GDP and the country’s population.
According to him, he is ready to enroll back to school and learn more about the job at hand.
Githinji stated,” GDP is the current population and the escalation of the population of a country. However, I will go back to foreign affairs academy to learn more about this job.”
Additional Inconsistencies he had included his net worth where he stated that he is worth Ksh.13.5 million, while on paper he had indicated Ksh.19 million.
Basic Eligibility/ requirements for the role include a degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a customer-facing capacity.
