Lt. Col. Joan Osweto Appointed as Ruto’s New Aide-De-Camp: President William Ruto’s deputy aide-de-camp has been replaced after less than two years of service.
Lieutenant Colonel Joan Osweto replaced Colonel Damaris Agnetta Apondi who has apparently been deployed to other duties in the military.
She is now a deputy President Ruto’s aide-de-camp, Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga who was appointed in September 2022 after President Ruto assumed office.
Fabian succeeded Lieutenant Colonel Rachel Nduta who was serving President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Some of the roles of An aide-de-camp include managing the president’s diary and liaising with his or her main security team.
An aide-de-camp is also a principal military officer, highly-trained senior military officer who must be part of the president’s itinerary all the time.
The term “Aide-de-camp” is coined from French, which means “helper in the military camp”.
