KDF Issues an Official statement as Viral First Responder Recounts Seconds Before Crash: According to the witness, at around 2.16 pm, while taking lunch after a busy day on his farm, the helicopter kicked off its departure after spending several hours in the area.
However, while attempting to take off, the helicopter developed a hitch on its propellers. It could be seen circulating above the forest signifying that the pilot attempted to land
He Narrared,”When I looked at it, the propeller was not rotating. Some of the people directed the pilot to land on a nearby ground,”
“While attempting to save the lives of the occupants, the chopper burst into flames but we struggled and managed to evacuate all the occupants and placed their bodies on the ground,”
He added: Two of the officers shouted for help, and in the process, one of them attempted to stand but was overwhelmed by the pain. During the rescue process, the military officials quickly arrived at the scene and told us to leave. We are the people who struggled with the incident. Even my clothes got burnt, I have since removed them. That fire was a huge one.”
KDF has Therefore stated that the burial will be conducted as per the family wishes
The statement read,”The military Honours ceremony will also be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata from 1 pm. The honours will include a church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute. A detailed programme for the ceremony will be made public as soon as it’s ready
“The deceased’s body will be airlifted to Alego Usonga Sub-county, Siaya County, for burial on the same day. This will be preceded by a church service at his local church in Nduru,”
They added: “Additionally, a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata, in line with the wishes of the family.”
