Village Elders From Gitei Village Conduct a Cleansing Ritual on Late Tiktoker Chira’s Grave: Village elders drawn from Gitei village in Gathanje area, Kiambu county on Friday turned up at the late Brian Chira’s home in Githunguri to perform a cleansing ritual.
According to the elders, the ritual is to chase away any negative spirits left behind by tiktokers who attended his funeral.
The Elders argued that Tiktokers and other social media influencers who attended the burial, did atrocites on the grave that are bound to bring bad luck to the community.
Some of the deeds include drinking alcohol and sprinkling it on the grave, urinating on the grave and Rowdy crowd of Tiktokers dubbed “Chira Clan” who made it impossible even for the clergy to access the burial site for final rites for the dead.
The Elders stated,” The villagers Lamented,” We didn’t like the way they dressed, smoked and drank alcohol in front of us. They didn’t even respect the clergy. They were disrespecting our Kikuyu traditions, and we’ve never seen that before. They urinated everywhere,”
“That’s not the way we were brought up. We’re worried about their future and how they’re going to raise their own children. It was a struggle even for the church to get access to the grave site. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing,” they added.
